I haven't done half as many interesting things as many of the people here. I only recently came out (coming out story is here) and am still in the process of transitioning. Most of my activism is online; most of the stuff I've done with my life in meatspace isn't overtly political. I've been a volunteer firefighter, an aircraft mechanic, an exotic dancer, a math and reading tutor, and several times a student. My career goals aren't overtly political either - I'm studying geophysics with the intent to do research on paleoclimate. But my life, being trans, is necessarily political. And that's why I'm here being opinionated.
Welcome Evan (kyril)! So nice to welcome some new folks here to the blog. Although we give the appearance of being a political blog, we are first and foremost a GLBT community and blog. Like the banner up top says, we're interested in all things GLBT, not just politics. Thanks for sharing and please cross-post anything from other blogs or online communities you'd like to share. I'm a big scifi enthusiast as well, as I know a few others here to be.
ReplyDeleteHi kyril (Evan) nice to meet you. Hell you're less than half my age..wouldn't have guessed that. I didn't realize that you were (are) a Canadian. If you haven't caught it, I'm married to a Canadian Citizen (Québecois) and lots of Ontarians in my family, which half of had emigrated from Ireland to Nova Scotia creating quite the mixed citizenship family..My fave Sci Fi writers are Philip K. Dick,Ray Bradbury & Asimov. Also an "enthusiast"..
ReplyDeleteCheers,Ed
So nice to meet you kyril. Would the namesake be Kyril of Alexandria or kyril of Jerusalem?
ReplyDeleteWould love to read some of your science fiction - love Heinlein myself - and what online games - I fall occasionally still into Civilization.
