Evangelist Pat Robertson says God created the heavy snowstorms blanketing the Northeast to "punish Americans who were planning to drive to do something gay."
Robertson's theory, which he shared on Thursday's broadcast of The 700 Club, is that all gay activities planned had to be postponed for at least a day or two due to the harsh weather conditions.
Airports were shut down, he said, "so that people who were hoping to fly to do something of a gay nature would have to take a train or a bus, so it might be days before the thing they were going to do could occur."
