Targeting: University of Alaska, Board of Regents
Started by: Michael Jones
Students, activists and faculty members have put pressure on the University of Alaska system for years to expand their anti-discrimination policies to include protections on the basis of sexual orientation. And for years, the University of Alaska Board of Regents has rejected these calls, and ignored efforts to address anti-gay discrimination.
That soon may be about to change.
This week the Board of Regents will meet again, and once more they'll look at whether the University of Alaska system should expand their nondiscrimination policy to include sexual orientation.

Indeed, students, faculty, and even the President of the University of Alaska have said that the time is now for the University of Alaska system to expand their nondiscrimination policy to include sexual orientation. Send the Board of Regents a note that they should follow the lead of their students, employees and community members, and include sexual orientation in their official nondiscrimination policy.
petition text -
Dear Board of Regents,As the University of Alaska's Board of Regents prepares to meet to discuss an expansion of the system's nondiscrimination policy, I write urging you to listen to your students, faculty and staff, and expand the policy to include sexual orientation.
Indeed, there have been calls for years for the University of Alaska system to add sexual orientation to the nondiscrimination policy. It's high time to act on this issue. Let's make sure that no one faces discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation within the University of Alaska system.
Thanks for your time. As the nation, including many a potential student, watches whether the University of Alaska will expand their nondiscrimination policy, I hope you will all move in the direction of inclusion and equality.[Your name]
