Noted in Passing

  • "WITTy" quote:

The government is expected to argue that, along with her orientation, Witt also should have been fired because she committed adultery. A precedent that, if enforced, would shrink our armed services to approximately the size of Hungary's.

  • Former Cadet Katherine Miller on tonight's Rachel Maddow Show:

"I will serve my country in one capacity or another."

  • Pope expresses 'concern':

The pope zeroed in on continuing efforts in favor of gay marriage in Germany, saying that the church "views with concern the growing attempt to eliminate the Christian concept of marriage and the family." Marriage should always be a permanent union between a man and a woman, open to the transmission of life, he said.

  • Minnesota poll:

The Minnesota Family Council released poll numbers... Commissioned by the National Organization for Marriage... The NOM poll asked if marriage “should be redefined to be any two people regardless of gender” and found that 54 percent of people rejected that idea, while 40 percent supported it.

So 40% of Minnesotans in a NOM sponsored poll support marriage equality. The true number is likely creeping up on 50%. Instead of crowing, they should be worried.

  • Acronym of the Day: TEABAGGER = Totally Enraged About Blacks And Gays Getting Equal Rights
