Michigan Assistant Attorney General Andrew Shirvel |
Shirvell's attorney Philip Thomas told the Detroit Free Press today that a disciplinary hearing that had been scheduled for Tuesday was pushed up to today, and in it the AG's office "said essentially that as a result of Andrew's conduct, it's become impossible for him to carry out his duties as an attorney general."
Shirvell was temporarily suspended last week pending the hearing over his repeated harassment of University of Michigan student body president Chris Armstrong, who Shirvell accused of having a "radical homosexual agenda," among other things.
Thomas said that the ruling "smells political to me," and that "there's been a tremendous piling on against Andrew. The liberal media started this tempest in a teapot."
Thomas added: "Andrew's reaction is that he's devastated over the loss of his employment."
