STAND PROUD: Show Iowa legislators we don't discriminate against Iowa families

Public hearing on HJR 6

Please join us at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, in the Iowa State Capitol House Chambers for a public hearing on House Joint Resolution 6 (H.J.R. 6), a resolution that would not only overturn the Varnum decision, but would slam the door on civil unions, domestic partnerships, and any other legal recognition of same-sex couples.

The hearing starts at 6:30 p.m., but we are asking supporters to get to the Capitol early to make sure we get seats in the Chamber gallery. This will be an extremely well-attended meeting on both sides, and we want to make sure we get as many seats as possible.

Wear blue, come early, and pack the House with supporters of equality!
If you would like to speak at the hearing, you can sign up by calling the Legislative Information Office, 515.281.5129, and telling them you would like to speak at the HJR6 hearing on Jan. 31 in House Chambers (registering "con" means you are against the amendment going forward). If you cannot attend the hearing, or would like to email testimony, you can send written testimony to lioinfo@legis.state.ia.us.
