We need to act fast.
supporters have just sent us a shocking leaflet from the Minnesota Family Council -- a group closely connected to the so-called "National Organization for Marriage." In their own words, NOM plans to "stop the gay marriage movement in its tracks."
The leaflet claims that they are in a "conflict between good and evil" and that "God has uniquely positioned Minnesota Family Council" to restore "moral and spiritual foundations." What's worse is they've just announced their plan to spend $5 million to enact their radical right-wing agenda to ban marriage for gay and lesbian couples.
We can't let their anti-gay, fear-mongering campaign go unanswered. Freedom to Marry has the antidote to NOM's toxic rhetoric. Donate now and help us win in 2011 in key states like Maryland, New York and Rhode Island. We can't do this without you -- please donate $25 now:
This isn't the first time we've witnessed anti-gay groups launch multimillion dollar attack campaigns aimed at demonizing gay people and their families.
In Iowa, NOM led the campaign to oust judges who voted in favor of ending marriage discrimination. In New Hampshire, NOM is running a campaign of intimidation to force legislators to repeal that state's marriage law.
In states like California, Maine and New York, NOM has worked to evade campaign finance disclosure laws. In each of these instances, one thing remains the same: NOM is systematically working to divide our country and reinforce anti-gay discrimination.
That's why Freedom to Marry is investing in public education, field organizers, television ads and online campaigns in key states to increase support for marriage and to connect marriage supporters with tangible actions. When people are informed, educated and able to understand why marriage matters to same-sex couples, they will choose the freedom to marry over discrimination.
Your support will help us fight back against NOM's lies. Stand with us and our campaign to win marriage nationwide. Make a donation today:
