Gay Priest Ice Cream Ad Banned

An ad for Antonio Federici ice cream featuring two priests on the verge of a passionate kiss has been banned by the U.K.’s Advertising Standards Authority.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the ad, which appeared in Look magazine, “showed two priests in full robes eating from a tub of ice cream 'in a seductive pose as if they were about to kiss passionately,'” as described the ASA.
Accompanying text for the ad read, “We Believe in Salivation.”
Antonio Federici, an Italian company, said it made the advertisement to challenge the “grave troubles” of the Catholic church. The ASA said that the ad appeared to be “mocking” Roman Catholics and was apt to seriously offend readers.
Last month, the ASA banned an Antonio Federici ad that showed a pregnant nun with a tub of ice cream and the captions “Immaculately conceived” and “Ice cream is our religion.”
